Hideo Kojima unveiled the video game project he had been hinting at for a while at the 2022 Game Awards. It's Death Stranding 2, of course.
The aforementioned teaser was one of the longest of The Game Awards and, in true Kojima form, is packed with confusing sequences that fans will spend hours trying to decipher. Teasers for this reveal have been released in recent months, introducing numerous actors who will appear in Death Stranding 2 like Elle Fanning. In the Death Stranding 2 teaser, we didn't get to see much of the new cast, but we did spot a new masked character playing the guitar who might be Troy Baker, a well-known voice actor for video games. He is essentially Mad Max: Fury Road's Doof Warrior by Kojima.
Sam Porter Bridges and Fragile, played by Norman Reedus and Lea Seydoux, are confirmed to appear in the follow-up.
Even though Fragile is the main focus of the majority of the trailer, one exchange between Fragile and Sam near the end suggests that Sam Porter Bridges will once more be our guide: "It's time for you to hit the road and start a new journey."
Hideo Kojima announced, "I actually developed the story for this sequel before the Covid-19 epidemic... and then rewrote it once the pandemic happened." He did this following the Death Stranding 2 trailer. Through a translator, he jokingly remarked, "I didn't want to forecast any more futures, so I revised it.
Along with Death Stranding 2, Kojima also said that he is working on another project that is reportedly more experimental than the original, which was already one of the most distinctive open world games of the previous ten years.
