With the mid-season update, the tiny and chaotic Shipment map from Modern Warfare 2007 is back, but the Modern Warfare 2 remake of the classic map has a stormy backdrop on a cargo ship at sea. This environment is thematically appropriate for the game's Dark Water campaign mission, in which Task Force 141 is engaged in combat on the deck of a cargo ship during a violent storm.
Activision confirms that there have been a few design changes to the map in addition to the new stormy ship atmosphere. The Shipment in Modern Warfare 2 is different from previous versions in that players can't climb up the cargo containers, keeping them on the ground level during combat. This results in less verticality than in previous editions of the Shipment.
Players won't be able to leave their own territory to make a quick play, as previously mentioned in a blog post. Activision claims that while Vanguard's WW2 version of the map allowed players to quickly pop out of bounds without dying, Modern Warfare 2's version forces players to find themselves at sea if they attempt to do so.
